George 1st Period Mulberry Burl Knee Hole Chest
A GEORGE 1ST PERIOD MULBERRY BURL KNEE HOLE CHEST circa 1725
Commissioned by Private client (featured in Country Life Magazine).
Copied from a photograph only this piece is made from solid Oak throughout and veneered with Mulberry Burl. The serpentine graduating hand dovetailed drawers are constructed from solid Oak and the drawer fronts are veneered and finished with a delicate cockbead moulding of Satinwood. The central knee hole cupboard slides forward to reveal the Satinwood columns and the 5 small document drawers within. The drawer above the cupboard contains a fitted Satinwood interior comprising of 10 lidded compartments and a removable serpentine Satinwood writing box. The finely cast brass handles are exact copies of the originals and are hand made using the lost wax process.
